Effect of protein depletion and subsequent repletion on in vivo incorporation of ( 14 C) amino acid into rat liver proteins in riboflavin deficiency.

چکیده
The effect of riboflavin deficiency on in vivo incorporation of [1-14C] leucine into proteins of liver has been studied on rats following protein depletion and subsequent repletion. The increase in the incorporation of [14C] amino acid into liver proteins follow ing protein depletion was less marked in riboflavin-deficient rats. But repletion with 40% protein demonstrated marked diminished protein incorporation in riboflavin-deficient rats compared to pair-fed control rats. Riboflavin deficiency does not show any alteration in the liver protein con centration following any of the dietary treatments. It is concluded that there occurs less synthesis and diminished rate of break down of liver proteins in riboflavin deficiency following protein depletion , and repletion with high protein diet following protein depletion causes diminished protein synthesis as well as reduced protein breakdown in liver of riboflavin deficient rats and consequently liver protein concentration remains unchanged .

Background & objectives: Due to the prevalence of obesity and the subsequent development of metabolic risk factors, cardiovascular and fatty liver complications, exercise programs and the use of natural supplements can play a significant role in controlling and preventing these diseases. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to review the effect of eight weeks of combined exercise and Chlo...
متن کاملInhibitory effects of pH5 enzyme from non-lactating bovine mammary gland on various stages of protein synthesis in the rat liver amino acid-incorporating system.
1. pH5 enzyme from non-lactating bovine mammary gland was found to contain potent inhibitors of protein synthesis in the rat liver cell-free system. These inhibitors affect (a) formation of aminoacyl-tRNA where tRNA represents transfer RNA, (b) transfer of labelled amino acids from rat liver amino[(14)C]acyl-tRNA to protein in rat liver polyribosomes, and (c) incorporation of (14)C-labelled ami...
متن کاملEffect of different protein levels on reproductive performance of snakehead murrel Channa striatus (Bloch 1793)
In this study the effect of different protein levels on reproductive performance of Channa striatus was conducted. Snakehead juveniles (65.5±0.2 g) were randomly distributed into nine homogenous groups of 75 fish each. Three isocaloric experimental diets differing in protein levels were prepared. The experiment lasted for 8 months and gonadosomatic index, absolute fecundity, egg diameter, numbe...
متن کاملCharacterization of biophysical properties of single chloride channel in rat brain mitochondrial inner membrane by channel incorporation into bilayer lipid membrane
Introduction: Recent studies have shown the presence of Cl- channels in heart and liver mitochondrial membranes. In this work, we have characterized the functional profile of a Cl- channel from rat brain mitochondria. Methods: After removing and homogenizing the rat brain, the supernatant was separately centrifuged in MSEdigitonin, H2O and Na2CO3 and mitochondrial inner membrane vesicles wer...
متن کاملThe influence of riboflavin, pyridoxine, inositol, and protein depletion- repletion upon the induction of neoplasms by choline deficiency.
The production of neoplasms in the livers and in other tissues of rats as a result of prolonged choline deficiency was reported by Copeland and Salmon in 1946 (1). This was confirmed by Engel, Cope land, and Salmon in 1947 (4) and by Staub, Viol her, and Werthemann in 1948 (10). The influence of the vitamin-B complex on the incidence of liver tumors in rats fed carcinogenic dyes has been stud i...
